Andrew W. Spangler

Andrew W. Spangler is a Shareholder of Spangler Law P.C. in Longview, Texas. He began his career working for a national patent litigation law firm, but left to serve as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable T. John Ward, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas. Following his clerkship, Andrew worked for a Texas-based commercial litigation firm and then founded Spangler Law P.C. in October of 2007 (with a short period in 2012 and 2013 operating with a d/b/a of Spangler & Fussell).

In representing patent holders, Mr. Spangler has participated, in one role or another, in a few hundred patent cases involving patents across numerous technology fields. He has experience enforcing patents on behalf of his clients throughout the nation, including federal courts in Texas, California, Washington, and Delaware, and has further represented patent holders before the United States International Trade Commission and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

In providing patent enforcement services for his clients, Mr. Spangler makes the complicated understandable – and has had great success in doing so. In recent years Mr. Spangler received successful verdicts on behalf of patent holders in Clear With Computers, LLC v. Hyundai Motor America, Inc. before Judge Leonard Davis and Internet Machines LLC v. PLX Technology, Inc., et al. before Judge Michael Schneider, both in the Eastern District of Texas.

While experienced in all phases of patent litigation, Mr. Spangler has particular expertise in negotiating settlements and licensing agreements.



Mr. Spangler has argued and received favorable rulings in Markman hearings across varying technology fields. Some representative examples include:

  • I2 Technologies US, Inc., et al. v. SAP AG et al. (supply chain management solutions) 
  • T-Netix, Inc. et al., v. Global Tel-Link Corp., (call-processing and billing technology in the telecommunications industry) 
  • Black v. Ce Soir Lingerie Co., Inc., et al., (female prosthetic device technology)
  • SFA Systems, LLC v. Infor Global Solutions and SFA Systems, LLC v. Big Machines, Inc., et al., (technology for facilitating the sales process)
  • MiCash Inc. v. PreCash Inc. (credit card transaction technology)
